The Airtel Internet TV is priced at Rs 4,999

Airtel Digital TV, the DTH arm of Bharti Airtel, has launched its android-powered hybrid set-top box which will allow any TV to transform into a smart TV.

The company said it will enable users to seamlessly switch between online and linear content with a single device.

The 4K set-top box comes with pre-loaded content apps such as Netflix, YouTube, Google Play Music, Google Play Games and Airtel Movies. The company had announced its partnership with Netflix last month.

The STB, which will require a broadband connection, has been priced at Rs 4,999 with 3 months Digital TV subscription. At Rs 7,999, consumers will get a one-year subscription. For its existing broadband and DTH subscribers, it is offering bundled offers along with STB.

Sunil Taldar, CEO & Director-DTH, Bharti Airtel, said, “This latest innovation has been designed keeping in mind the needs of Indian homes and it bridges the gap between online and offline world to enable an end-to-end entertainment experience with the convenience of a single device.”

"We will initially be targeting the top 20 cities," he said, adding that the company is also in discussions with Amazon Prime and other OTT players. Airtel Internet TV will initially be available exclusively on Amazon India for about a month, before it is sold through the retail stores.
