No adverse remarks in report against former PM Manmohan Singh: PAC chief KV Thomas

NEW DELHI: The Public Accounts Committee's report on the alleged irregularities in holding Commonwealth Games in 2010 has found nothing to indict former prime minister Manmohan Singh and the report has given Singh a clean chit, PAC chairman KV Thomas said on Tuesday.

"You will get the entire PAC report tomorrow (Wednesday). One important point is that there is nothing against the then prime minister in it... Everything is black and white," Thomas told reporters outside the House...There is nothing that Manmohan Singh or the PMO has done out of the way," Thomas told at a news conference.

He also said there was "unanimity" among members of the PAC in finalising the report, which will be tabled in Parliament on Wednesday.

"There was a meeting chaired by the prime minister, decisions were taken, and when the minutes of the meeting came, then sports ministry said the spirit of the decisions was not carried in the minutes," Thomas said, clearly blaming the irregularities somewhere else.

There are indications that the PAC report may have indicted Suresh Kalmadi, chairman of the Commonwealth Games organising committee, and some senior officials and may have recommended action against them.
