The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday granted stay on the Anti-Corruption Bureau's (ACB) proceedings against suspended BBMP Chief Engineer (Major Roads) K T Nagaraj.

The official has challenged the ACB’s FIR against him which was filed following a raid on his house in Jayanagar on February 28. According to the ACB, Nagaraj has amassed wealth (Rs 7 crore) that is 200% more than his known source of income. He was booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Nagaraj approached the court challenging the source from where the ACB has collected information levelling corruption charges against him. He has also challenged the police station status given to the ACB and the very formation of the agency, which was set up by the state government in a hurried manner. Justice Anand Byrareddy granted stay on the proceedings against Nagaraj and ordered notice to the ACB.
