We are proud of this Polarisation: VHP general secy on Bengal Ram Navami celebration

KOLKATA: Reacting to West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee's allegation of polarizing the state on the basis of religion. Surendra Jain, International joint general secretary of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) said that the Hindu groups are 'proud' of this 'polarization, that is in favour of national forces and nationalism'.

"Mamata Banerjee has accused us of polarizing Bengal. But may I ask her why she did not think about it when allowances for Imams were announced, when more funds were given to Madrassas and when Visarnjan of Durga idol was held due to Muharram? Was it not polarization then? We are proud of this polarization that is in favour of nationalism," Jain told reporters in Kolkata. He was here to attend a public meeting organised by the VHP in central Kolkata to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti.

He further alleges that the Left Front government maintained communal harmony in the state, but the Trinamool Congress government has "divided people like the British did."
