The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to waive off parking charges at four major tourist destinations in the city on Sundays and other holidays, a senior civic official said.

The move is aimed at boosting tourism in the metropolis.



The four spots which have been given a parking fee waiver are Gateway of India, Maharaj Vaastu Sangrahalay, Juhu Chowpatty and Girgaum Chowpatty, said the official.

"As part of our policy to boost tourism in the city, we (the BMC) already provide 50 per cent discount at our pay-and-park slots in other parts of the metropolis on Sundays and holidays.

"Going a step further, the civic administration has decided to offer free parking at four major tourist destinations on similar days," said the officer.

The civic administration has made necessary changes in its parking policy.
