Reliance Jio to launch more exciting offers after Summer Surprise

NEW DELHI: Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio Infocomm will soon launch 'more' exciting offers including ultra-affordable data tariff to woo new subscribers as well as retain existing Jio Prime members.

"We are updating our tariff packs and will be soon introducing more exiting offers," the Mumbai-based company's official Website said. The soon-to-be-launched tariff plans would be aimed to ward off any adverse impact on user addition due to the Jio Summer Surprise offer discontinuation after sector regulator Trai's (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) intervention on April 6.

Incumbent telcos, who may have breathed a sigh of relief by the Trai's diktat, would need to brace for more such offers which could hurt their financials further, with industry debt already at Rs 4.85 lakh crore.

Jio is currently offering lifetime free voice calls and 1GB of data very day under its flagship Rs 303 plan. Trai had scuppered Jio's Summer Surprise plan for not falling within the regulatory framework, hurting the telco's bid to rapidly grow its over 72 million subscriber base.

Jio, however, reiterated that the Summer Surprise Offer was legally compliant and added that it would be in a process of complying with the advice and would withdraw the benefits as soon as 'operationally feasible' over the next few days.

On March 31, Ambani in his letter to Jio subscribers said that the company added 72 million paid users in a month and the users would continue to get the best from the company.

"I assure you that Jio will always be obsessed with serving you and delighting you every day. Jio Prime members will always get the very best of what Jio has to offer," Ambani in his statement said.
