Dug-up roadside not repaired

The two sides of Siddaiah Puranik Road in Basaveshwara Nagar have been dug up and left partially open or shoddily covered. The road sees heavy traffic as a number of schools, hospitals and banks are located nearby.

The unrepaired road poses a danger to motorists and pedestrians alike. Students, women and senior citizens form a sizeable population of daily commuters. The road is already chock-a-block and its poor condition only makes matters worse.

Mattresses burnt on lakebed

The Subramanyapura lakebed has been exposed to dumping and burning of garbage, including old mattresses. As if that were not enough, the road from the lake towards Turahalli is being treated like a trash can.

The smoke and fire caused by the burning of mattresses discourages motorists from using the road. Local residents and the authorities concerned should come forward to save the lake and conserve it for a better tomorrow.

Close open gutter in Whitefield

An open gutter in front of Prestige Ozone apartments in Whitefield has become a bane for residents. Recently, a 70-year-old man riding a two-wheeler fell into it due to lack of poor lighting. Passersby pulled him out of the drain and informed his family. Before another mishap occurs, the authorities must cover the drain immediately.

Wheelies in Malleswaram

The 11th Main Road in Malleswaram has been asphalted, much to the delight of motorcyclists. But many of them have been misusing the road by doing wheelies even during the day. Some of the motorists speed up after dusk, making it different for people to cross the road. The thick tree cover on the road renders visibility poor. I suggest the traffic police instal a signboard proclaiming ‘Drive-residential area’ and put up humps on the road.

Impounded vehicles dumped in subway

The traffic police have been dumping vehicles impounded for violating the parking rule in the subway at Malleswaram Circle, disrupting vehicular movement and leading to traffic jams, especially during peak hours. I request the Malleswaram traffic police to shift the dumped vehicles from the subway.

Drain fixed but road not restored

About two months ago, civic authorities began repairing a drain at 8th Main Road in Vijayanagar 2nd Stage. While the work has been completed, the road has not been restored. Dust and piles of mud have gathered on the road, causing health hazards as well as traffic snarls.

Dry waste not cleared

Heaps of dry waste, including coconut leaves, have been dumped at 1st Cross, Vinayaka Layout, Sanjaynagar (ward number 19). The garbage van comes in regularly but fails to clear the garbage.

Delay in renewal of BMTC ID

Recently I went to a BMTC counter for renewal of my bus identity card. But the work could not be done because the official concerned was not available.When I visited the counter again, I was asked to come back some other day, though the official was very much available. I request BMTC officials to be more sincere in their work and not cause delays in issuing or renewal of identity cards.

Building materials on road

Building materials have been dumped on 2nd Main Road in Kasturi Nagar for more than a month now. These are the leftover materials from the recent maintenance of a park. These pose a hazard to motorists and walkers alike. I request the authorities to either remove the materials or shift them to the roadside until the work is completed.

Widen central prison road

Since the last month, there have been many accidents on the central prison road which connects Sarjapur Road with Electronics City. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike must widen the narrow and dusty road by installing a divider on it. The authorities must also rein in water tankers and cement mixture lorries plying on the road and causing air pollution.

Inadequate parking space

There is not enough parking space outside the BangaloreOne center at Divyashree Chambers in Shanthinagar ward. There is a single parking line which can accommodate only four to five motorcycles. Since people visit the centre throughout the day to pay bills and for other services, there is a need for adequate parking space. The traffic police must not tow away vehicles parked near the center. Vehicles should be allowed to park on the centre’s premises.

Footpath in bad shape

The footpath at Jalahalli Cross signal is in bad shape with its slabs missing or broken. Adding to the problem is the parking of vehicles on the footpath.The Peenya police must take action against the violators and fine them for misusing the footpath.
