Three persons of a family were charred to death when their house caught fire at Tleu hamlet in Lunglei district, police said today.

The victims have been identified as Tahla (50), his son Bawmita (10) and one-year-old daughter Merry. The fire was reportedly caused due to electric short circuit, they said.



Tahla's wife and his another daughter were rescued by the neighbours, police said adding that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
