Goibibo to soon launch alternative accommodation segment

NEW DELHI: In its first major announcement after receiving the necessary clearances for its merger with larger rival MakeMyTrip in January, Goibibo is launching its alternative accommodation segment within the next 30 days.

Speaking to ET, Ashish Kashyap, president, MakeMyTrip, the Nasdaq-listed entity, which owns and operates both brands, said that Goibibo will have about 3,000 listings at the time of launch, which is anticipated to be in May later this year.

Goibibo, which will continue to operate as a separate brand, has also launched its brand new marketing campaign, with Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, as its brand ambassador.

The campaign is being launched at the same time as the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League of which it is an associate broadcast sponsor.

“Goibibo is singularly focused on delivering disproportionate value to travellers through smart tech and product-based solutions,“ said Saujanya Shrivastava, group chief marketing officer.
