Nifty slips: Avenue Supermarts, V Mart, Indian Terrain surge over 5% on Friday

NEW DELHI: Shares of D-Mart promoter Avenue Supermarts surged nearly 10 per cent to Rs 730 on Friday even as the broader markets sentiment continued to be weak.

Domestic equity index BSE Sensex was 62.81 points down at 29,864.53 on account of selling in frontline bluechip counters.

However, De Nora India (up 5.02 per cent), Indian Terrain (up 5.07 per cent), Ahluwalia Contr (up 5.08 per cent), Gufic BioSci (up 5.09 per cent), IngersollRand (up 5.19 per cent), Peninsula Land (up 5.23 per cent), V Mart Retail (up 5.25 per cent), PVP Ventures (up 5.26 per cent), Emami Infra (up 5.40 per cent), Aro Granite Ind (up 5.54 per cent) rallied over 5 per cent during the day on BSE.

In the Nifty 50 index, stocks such as Indian Oil Corp (up 2.63 per cent), BPCL (up 2.19 per cent), Bharti Airtel (up 1.83 per cent), Larsen & Toubro (up 1.70 per cent), Bharti Infratel (up 1.49 per cent), Bajaj Auto (up 1.02 per cent), Eicher Motors (up 0.76 per cent), HDFC (up 0.63 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (up 0.58 per cent), YES Bank (up 0.44 per cent) stood among top gainers on Friday.

The Nifty 50 index closed 19.90 down at 9242.05 . Among the 50 stocks, 21 ended the day in green, while 30 settled in red.
