Guard hangs himself

A 45-year-old man reportedly hanged himself at his home at Narayanapura in Mahadevapura, east Bengaluru, on Thursday.

Police suspect that financial reasons and depression drove Ashok Rao, a security guard, to take the extreme step, though no suicide note has been found as yet.

The incident came to light when Rao’s wife Kavitha, who works at a private company, returned home. She alerted neighbours who called the jurisdictional Mahadevapura police. A case of unnatural death has been registered and further investigation is under way.
