A severe heat wave is sweeping through several towns of Marathwada and Vidarbha in Maharashtra, where temperature continues to stay above 40 degree Celsius.
Eight people have fallen victim to the heatwave conditions in the state in the last fortnight. Data compiled from Mumbai’s Regional Meteorological Centre of the IMD and skymetweather.com indicates that Vidarbha and Marathwada have been severely affected in the heatwave.

Dubbed the black gold city due to the presence of coal mines, Chandrapur registered no casualties during the day. The main town of Brahmpuri tehsil also sizzled at 43 degrees.
Akola, Nagpur and Wardha districts in Vidarbha scorched at 43 degrees, while mercury shot up to 41 degrees at Amravati and Yavatmal.
Nanded and Parbhani districts of Marathwada registered 41 degrees, whereas Bhira in Raigad district and the powerloom town of Malegaon in Nashik district recorded 42 degrees.
Though temperature hovered around 33 degrees in Mumbai, humidity alarmingly increased during the day. Weathermen forecast that temperatures would drop further in the next 24 hours.
