April 06, 2017, Bengaluru, DHNS
A 30-year-old cook paid with his life for ‘stealing’ a measly sum of Rs 400. He was bludgeoned to death by his friend at a lodge opposite Upparpet police station on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Lokesh Narasimhappa, a native of Chitradurga. He was working for a catering unit, police said. Narasimhappa stayed with his friends, Kumar and Prakash, in the lodge.

Prakash had seen Narasimhappa stealing money from Kumar’s pocket. He informed Kumar about the theft on Monday night. A quarrel ensued among the three, who were all inebriated. In a fit of rage, Kumar bludgeoned Narasimhappa to death with a hollow cement block. The building owner, who found the body on Tuesday morning, informed the police.

Both Kumar and Prakash are absconding and the police have launched a search to trace them.
Upparpet police have registered a case.
