'Anoop was arrested when he was about to flee country'
The Criminal Investigating Department (CID) officials on Monday arrested Anoop K M, the third accused in the multi-crore scam by the Bengaluru-based realty firms TGS Constructions, Dreamz Infra and others.
Anoop was arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi while he was trying to flee the country.
Soon after the prime accused Sachin Naik and his wife Disha Choudhary were arrested, the police had sought for issuing lookout notices for the other accused who were absconding.
The CID had formed three special teams and also set up a special cell at its headquarters to receive complaints and information on the case and the accused. The police have also sought confidential information from people who do not want to get involved in legal tangles, they could mail to alertcid@ksp.nic.in or call 080-22094451.
As many as 82 cases have been filed against the accused in various police stations which are now being probed by the CID. The accused had floated numerous companies and duped around 1,700 investors of Rs 150 crore, a senior police officer said. A few companies floated were Dreamz Infra India Private limited, TGS Construction Private Limited and Gruha Kalyan Private Limited with 13 managing directors who advertised 48 projects across Bengaluru.
The prime accused Sachin Naik alias Sumanth Kumar Das alias Yogesh Choudhary (39), is a native of Ratnagiri in Maharastra. He came to Mumbai in search of a job and joined a private company where he married his colleague Ayesha. Soon after the marriage, Ayesha became Disha Choudhary and the duo came down to Bengaluru in 2002 and launched a finance company under the banner Frontier.
A case of cheating was registered against the couple in the Commercial Street police station in 2009 for duping over 800 investors of Rs 16 crore. Further, the probe revealed that Sachin floated another company TGS Constructions in the name of his second wife Mandeep Kaur and made her one of the directors.
The company offered flats in prime locations at cheaper prices and collected crores of rupees from investors who were mainly retired/serving government and army officials, private firm employees and gullible homemakers.
Sachin invested the money in Bollywood and produced a Hindi movie ‘Anuradha’ with Ayesha alias Disha Choudhary playing the lead role, the probe revealed.
Later, Sachin bought 11.5 acres on Kanakpura Road and constructed a Shiradi Sai Baba temple there. He also invested in IPL advertisements for RCB team. He also paid huge money to Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan to promote one of his business ventures. Sachin also floated numerous online business portals including dailypooja.com, mom@babyproducts, furniture.com, DKG Enterprises and Udyog Mitra Trust, the police said.
CID sleuths are now making efforts to confiscate his movable and immovable properties and produce them before the court for further course of action, a senior police officer said.
