Muvizz.com to host South Asian film festival in Singapore

MUMBAI: Over-the-top (OTT) video—on demand platform Muvizz.com has decided to come up with its very own film festival, Singapore South Asian International Film Festival.

The platform which offers cult, classic and independent films to cinema lovers around the world, claims that the festival will be devoted to a greater appreciation of South Asian cinema and culture by showcasing films, supporting emerging filmmakers and promoting the diverse perspectives of the South Asian Diaspora.

The festival will be held from September 1 - 9, at various venues in Singapore. It will showcase a combination of features, short films and documentaries under two sections - Competition (wherein titles from South Asia will compete for an award) and Showcase (wherein the best of south Asian cinema will be screened).

Additionally, the festival will also offer an opportunity to learn about acting, film making and screen-writing along with knowledge sessions like panel discussions, master classes and other business networking sessions.

Abhayanand Singh, chairman of the festival and co-founder of Muvizz.com, said, "Singapore, being the gateway to Asia, only enhances the potential of the festival to emerge as the melting pot of diverse cultures using cinema as a medium. The festival serves as a unique opportunity for a cultural interaction between two major geographical regions- South Asia and the South East Asia."

Muvizz.com has been backing innovative content films right from its inception. The platform recently gave backing to various projects such as the documentary on late singer Jagjit Singh, the remake of 'Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyu Aata Hai', 'Alif' etc.

It has also produced short films like 'Taandav' and 'Kriti', which have been a hit on YouTube.
