Meghalaya Sports minister Zenith Sangma today said the state government has asked the Chandigarh-based Rajiv Gandhi National Institution for Youth Development to formulate a draft youth policy for the state.
"We have asked the Rajiv Gandhi National Institution for Youth Development (RGNIYD) for formulate the youth policy and it is expected to be completed by the end of June," Zenith Sangma told PTI after a two-day consultative meet here.
He said the policy would be made available to the public for viewing and reviewing before finalisation.
RGNIYD regional director Stanzil Dawa said the young people of the state depend upon the policies, programmes and mechanisms that the state would have.
"This policy will be the guiding frame work for the government, civil society organisations and the NGOs to plan and design the programmes, which will meet the aspiration of young people," Sangma said.
