Former Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) of from Amrish Singh Gautam said on Monday he quit the to save his self-respect.

Ahead of the forthcoming Municipal Corporation of (MCD) elections, Amrish joined the (BJP) in the presence of BJP's vice-president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe on Monday at State headquarters.

Elaborating his decision to join the BJP, Amrish told ANI he quit due to the 'utter neglect' of party workers.

"Even I was made to wait for more than eight hours at the doors of leaders entrusted with power of finalising the tickets for the MCD polls," lamented Amrish.

Amrish is a three-time and has represented Kondli and erstwhile Patparganj assembly seat. He was also the deputy speaker of the Assembly.

"I joined the because the state leadership ignored the winnable party workers and politicians while distributing tickets for the MCD elections," said Amrish.

"By doing so, the leadership also ignored the interests of the voters," he added.
