Farmers associations in Tamil Nadu will observe a general strike today. They plan rail and road blockades to draw authorities’ attention to the State’s drought situation. They demand a drought relief package of ₹40,000 crore from the Centre, farm loan waiver and setting up of the Cauvery Management Board.

The RBI’s separate Enforcement Department wing will open today. The RBI currently has two departments — regulation and supervision — for banks. The third department of enforcement will look into all violations by banks and impose penalty.

A special court will take up CBI’s chargesheet against Himachal Pradesh CM Virbhadra Singh, his wife and others for allegedly amassing assets worth around ₹10 crore disproportionate to their known sources of income. The final report arrayed around 225 witnesses and 442 documents.
