Officials visit villages in Davangere taluk hit by tremors

Tahsildar Santoshkumar and H P Mallesh, senior geologist in the Mines and Geology department, on Monday visited Gandhinagar and Bhovihatti near Anaji in the taluk as cracks appeared in some houses and roads, following mild tremors on Sunday.

The residents came out of their houses to open areas for safety and took shelter in a nearby temple. The officials said there was no need for people to panic as cracks usually appear when the water table depletes and temperature beneath the earth increases.
