Nissan Motor India registers its highest sales in FY-17

MUMBAI: Nissan Motor India has posted its highest ever sales in India for FY-17 at 57,315 units registering a growth of 45% for the last fiscal year. This healthy growth has been led by its new entry car Datsun Redigo which was launched in June of 2016 that brought in the incremental volumes of 25,000 units in FY-17, making up for almost 45% of company's volumes.

The company registered sales of 5,309 vehicles in March 2017, an increase of 21% over the same period last year.

Over the last few years, Datsun has led from the volumes front for the company, with Nissan branded products getting jaded. The company recently refreshed its compact SUV Terrano and intends to liven up the Nissan brand in the coming years.

Nissan Motor claims it is the second fastest growing brand in India and with plans of launching 8 new products in the coming five years, Company is eying 5% market share by 2021.

Guillaume Sicard, president of Nissan India Operations, said Last fiscal year was a remarkable year for Nissan India.

"We are delighted by the progress and the acceptance of our products and services by our customers. We have remained focused on sustaining and accelerating our performance and the team has worked hard to reach closer to our customers. On the products front, Datsun redi-GO has been our most significant new model launch in the last year and has been a key driver of our success and raising brand awareness," said Sicard.

Nissan has a sales and service network with 279 customer touch points across 174 cities in India, which is being aggressively expanded. The company also opened a new regional parts distribution centre in Pune – a third such facility in India, to strengthen aftersales service.

Arun Malhotra, MD, Nissan Motors India Ltd said, “The positive year-end results signify our efforts to engage with more customers by strengthening our sales and after sales network across India. Additionally, we have significantly raised our customer and sales satisfaction scores.”

Nissan has a diverse product range with eight models on sale under the umbrella of the Nissan and Datsun brands across six segments.
