Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today launched Hubli-Chickbenkal and Pilibhit-Majhola Pakariya passenger train services.

Besides, the Jabalpur-Sukrimangela passenger train services was extended to Ghansore.



"The projects which are getting commissioned today were started long ago. Our is committed to fulfil the promises," Prabhu said after flagging off the trains through video conferencing from here.

Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi, Chemical and Fertilizers Minister Ananth Kumar, MoS for Health and Family Welfare Faggan Singh Kulaste and MP from various constituencies were also present on the occasion.

Prabhu said, "This is an important event as it falls on the last day of financial year. Indian has set tough targets for the year 2016-17. The meaning of target was changed from completion of project to commissioning of project."

Highlighting the railways' achievements, He said, "In 2016-17, had set 2,800 km target for gauge conversion, doubling and tripling. We have successfully accomplished 2,855 km in 2016-17."

Similarly on exceeded electrification target from 1730 km to 2000 km in 2016-17, he said.

The Minister said is taking many steps like tree plantation, restoration of water bodies.
