Castor seed prices hardened by Rs 43 to Rs 4,817 per quintal in futures trading today as operators widened their bets in line with spot markets.

Market players said expanding of exposure by speculators, tracking a firm trend in the spot markets on robust demand from consuming industries mainly led to rise in castor seed prices at futures trade here.



At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, castor seed for delivery in April month rose by Rs 43 or 0.90 per cent to Rs 4,817 per quintal, with an open interest of 48,720 lots.

Also, castor seed for delivery in May month gained Rs 35 or 0.72 per cent to Rs 4,880 per quintal, in an open interest of 71,980 lots.
