The Yamuna River Project symposium-cum-exhibition was held here focusing on ways to clean the heavily polluted river in the national capital.

Lt Governor Anil Baijal unveiled the exhibition and expressed satisfaction over the project while directing the officials for prompt work on it.



The event, held yesterday, was organised by the Jal Board in collaboration with University of Virginia and was part of the overall effort to clean the Yamuna river.

The University of Virginia has signed a five-year MoU with the Jal Board to map out an expansive, multidisciplinary prescription to rehabilitate the pollution-choked river.

"We hope that the Yamuna River project will lay the groundwork for many additional collaborations in in the future," said Teresa A Sullivan, President of University of Virginia.

Notably, the had launched a Rs 200-crore project in November 2016 to clean up Yamuna, after three years of the ambitious plan being in cold storage.
