Bring a proposal against hunger: Mulayam Singh Yadav

NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party MP Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday called upon the government to ensure that none in the country died of hunger.

Participating in a discussion in the Lok Sabha on the GST Bill, the former SP chief said: "GST would be passed anyway, what should I say on it... But there is no law to assure that no one would sleep hungry or no one would stay unemployed. Let's bring a proposal against hunger and poverty,"

Averring that he spoke about those at the grassroot, Yadav told BJP members that the mandate the Bharatiya Janata Party received in the recent Uttar Pradesh assembly elections was not ordinary.

"If you (BJP) don't deliver on your promises, the people of the state will teach you a lesson next time," Yadav said.
