ET GBS 2017: Hans Paul Burkner has a piece of advice for Indian cos fretting over H-1B visas

NEW DELHI: There is much hullabaloo in the US and in India recently about H1-B visa but there is a way though which Indian IT companies can convince the US admin not to reduce the visas, according to Hans Paul Burkner, the Global Chairman of BCG.

While speaking at the Economic Times Global Business Summit 2017, Burkner said, Indian IT companies need to make it clear that they are strenthening productivity of US firms and US people. So the key message from Indian IT companies should be that they can further coach and empower US people and train a number of people so jobs around factories and IT centres will grow."

If less Indian experts will go to US, the more of their jobs will be done outside US and this message should be sent across, he advised Indian IT companies to tell the US administration.

Burkner added that there are a lot of discussions underway in the US administration about the issue and that another solution than simply reducing visas would come.
