SC asks Unitech chairman, directors to show up for court hearing on may 5
NEW DELHI:The Supreme Court directed Unitech chairman Ramesh Chandra, managing directors Ajay and Sanjay Chandra and other directors to be present in the court on May 5 in connection with a petition over a proposed scheme of compromise between the company and some homebuyers in its projects.
The court also asked the builder to submit its final proposal for the completion of its pending projects. A Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra refused to entertain any further application seeking exemption for the directors from personal appearance in the court, said a lawyer who represented the petitioners in the case.
The court said all proceedings in cases against Unitech and its directors before different courts and forums will continue, according to ML Lahoty, the lawyer who represented around 1,700 homebuyers of Gurgaon's Unitech Residences and Vistas project.
