The investigations in to the case of an alleged IS agent arrested in the Banjar area of Kullu last year would be entrusted to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), chief minister Virbhadra Singh today said.
In a written reply in Vidhan Sabha to a question by BJP member Maheshwar Singh, Singh said that the arrested person Abid Khan was wanted by NIA in another case.
Keeping this in view, the government has decided to entrust investigations to it, the chief minister said.
Abid was handed over to NIA after his arrest, he said adding that the state police would cooperate with the central agency in investigations.
The accused was staying in a church in Banjar with a fake name and was arrested by the police and his two suspected accomplices were arrested from Delhi, Singh informed.
A case under sections 419,18 and 20 of IPC has been registered against him, Singh added.
