SEBI chief Ajay Tyagi meets market participants

MUMBAI: Securities and Exchange Board of India's new chief Ajay Tyagi met market participants on Monday to seek their views on the various segments of the capital markets.

The meeting was organised by industry body FICCI which has participants from investment banks, law firms, mutual funds, credit rating agencies, proxy advisory firms and corporates.

The meeting which was held from 4 pm to 5.30 pm at Sebi Bhavan in Mumbai was attended by about 45 participants including Sunil Sanghai, managing director, HSBC bank, India; Rashesh Shah, chairman and CEO Edelweiss Group; Shardul Shroff, Chairman, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co; Nilesh Shah, MD, Kotak Mahindra AMC and Sandeep Parekh, founder, Finsec Law Advisors among others

"It was an acquaintance meet as the new chairman is just one month into the office. We discussed issues relating to the primary market such as simplifying the IPO offer document, price discovery related issues, mutual funds, increasing market participation, deepening the bond market and on products such as Reits and InvITs among other things," said a person who was part of the meeting.

"The new Sebi chairman was willing to understand the issues and offered to meet the industry any time," the person said.
