For those disorderly and untidy teenagers who lack direction and planning to achieve career goals, a digital solution is just a download away!
Aiming to inculcate moral values, ethics and making youth equipped with life-skills to take on the future career challenges, Gujarat Technological University (GTU) with assistance from the Rajkot-based Shri Ramkrishna Ashram, had launched an android app called I-Become here on Friday.
I-Become app is prepared with a vision to inculcate moral values and ethics in the students and help them prepare for their examinations and career goals. The app will provide daily tips using inspirational thoughts of Swami Vivekananda to transform their approach and beliefs about learning.
In the backdrop of the discussions about value-based education system, GTU becomes the first university to adopt digital way for value-education by lauching the app.
"GTU had started the Contributory Personality Development Programme (CPDP), aiming to transform behaviour and approach of the students towards career. Ethics and values play the top-most important role in the education system. Just as the former President of India late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was inspired from the teachings of Dr Iyengar and went on to became the missile scientist, similarly students must get inspired from the education they are given," Navin Sheth, Vice-Chancellor of GTU, said while launching the app.
GTU's CPD programme covers and evaluates the aspects related to personality development and behaviourism of the students.
Swami Sarvasthanandaji, Chairman of Shri Ramkrishna Ashram, Rajkot, who has been a key person behind the development of the mobile app, informed that the real benefits of Digital India can be obtained by using digital platform for value education.
"The young generation has been using smartphones quite extensively. In this context, we chose a mobile app to spread Swami Vivekananda's inspirational thoughts and thereby inculcate useful life skills among the youth," said the Swami.
Currently, in English, the app will soon be available in vernacular languages as well.
Shrinivas Venkatram, CEO of Illumine Knowledge Resources, who provided technical support for the app, said, "The goal of the app is to significantly enhance the career connect of the CPD programme into the lives of the students and help them strengthen the career planning and emerge stronger on the employability front. The I-Become app benefits students by allowing them to refine their thoughts and decide on their long-term career goal rather than run after short-term successes."
