Trial run on underground Metro in 3 days
March 25, 2017, Bengaluru, DHNS
Metro trains will start running on the underground section of north-south corridor in three days as the BMRCL heads to the final stages of the trial run to meet the April 15 deadline.
BMRCL managing director Pradeep Singh Kharola said French multinational Alstom has finished most of the tests prerequisite for running the trains. “We will start running the train within the next three days,” he said, but refused to comment further on the time required for the exercise.
According to Bengaluru Development Minister K J George, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has set April 15 as deadline for operationalisation of the entire Metro Phase 1. However, the deadline seems unrealistic in the face of the time required for trials and the CRS inspection.
Senior BMRCL officials said they would take a month to complete the entire test and go for CRS inspection but said the project will meet the “April deadline”. “The CRS inspection will not take much time unless there are problems that need to be fixed,” they added.
