ETMarkets After Hours: IOC, BPCL, HPCL declare dividends; Shankara IPO sails on Day 2

Benchmark equity indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty snapped a three-day losing streak on Thursday on firm global cues. The 30-share Sensex settled 164.48 points, or 0.56 per cent, higher at 29,332, while the 50-share Nifty50 closed 55.85 points, or 0.62 per cent, up at 9,086.

Here’s a look at the stocks and sectors that hogged limelight on Thursday:

Bonanza for shareholders: Oil marketing companies Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) announced interim dividends of Rs 6.40, Rs 12 and Rs 4.50, respectively, for financial year 2016-17. Shares of HPCL closed 2.08 per cent up at Rs 521, while BPCL and IOC settled 1.43 per cent and 1.07 per cent higher at Rs 653 and Rs 376, respectively.

IPO sails through: The Rs 350 crore initial public offering (IPO) of Shankara Building Products got oversubscribed on Day 2 of the bidding process. The public issue got bids for 89.41 lakh shares against 59.89 lakh shares on offer by 3.30 pm (IST).

On a high: Shares of Hindustan Composites zoomed over 13 per cent in Thursday’s trade after the company informed the stock exchanges that its board would meet on April 10 to consider and approve stock split and bonus issue of shares.

Sectorwise: Among the sectoral indices on BSE, the BSE Oil & Gas index gained the most at 1.21 per cent, followed by Power (up 1.20 per cent), Metal (up 1.08 per cent), Capital Goods (up 1.04 per cent) and Auto (up 0.84 per cent) indices. The BSE FMCG index (down 0.10 per cent) was the only sectoral loser on Thursday.

Fresh 52-week high: Over 60 stocks on NSE hit their fresh 52-week highs on Thursday. The list included Alkem Laboratories, Astral Poly, Cairn India, Century Enka, Escorts, HCL Technologies, Gujarat Gas and Kotak Mahindra Bank.

Spurt in OI: Stock futures of Bharat Financial saw the biggest spurt in open interest (OI) at 164.40 per cent. It was followed by Reliance Capital (up 26.31 per cent), PC Jeweller (up 22.35 per cent) and Coal India (up 18.26 per cent).

Most active securities: Suzlon emerged the most active stock in terms of traded volume on NSE on Thursday. It was followed by Idea Cellular, JP Associates, Hind Zinc, ITC and BEPL.
