1) The Supreme Court has fixed for Thursday hearing in the Babri Masjid demolition case in which senior BJP leaders L. K. Advani, M. M. Joshi and Uma Bharti are accused. A Bench headed by Justice P C Ghose said the appropriate Bench comprising him and Justice R F Nariman will be hearing the matter today. Justice Nariman was not present in the court on Wednesday. At the outset, counsel for Haji Mahboob Ahmad (since deceased) moved an application seeking a week’s time to file a report with regard to the status of the case in the trial court. Senior advocate K K Venugopal, appearing for the BJP leaders, said the matter should be listed after four weeks to enable them to file some documents.

2) The HYSEA (Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association) will hold its 25th Annual HYSEA Summit in the city on Thursday. The event will give away awards to product companies that have come up with good products and services. Besides, recognising the products from the small, medium and big companies, the association will also pick products developed by start-ups. Over 130 products under various categories will be competing, disclosed in a curtain raiser press note issued in the city today.

3) Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal will be the chief guest at a programme being organised in memory of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev in Hussainiwala (Ferozepur) on March 23, which is also observed as Martyrdom Day. Apart from paying homage to the martyrs, a rally will be taken out in Hussainiwala to be addressed by Manpreet. State Irrigation and Power Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh will be the chief guest at a memorial function being organised in Khatkar Kalan, where Bhagat Singh lived.

4) A three-day ‘International Conference on Hydraulics and Environmental Systems-2017’ being hosted by the Belagavi-based KLE Dr. M.S. Sheshagiri College of Engineering and Technology from March 23 to 25 will focus its deliberations on river engineering, hydrology and watershed management, coastal engineering and topics of immediate concern vis-à-vis impact of climate change and global warming. Principal of the host college Basavaraj G. Katageri said eminent speakers and delegates from Australia, Iran, South Korea and Taiwan, and from premier engineering and technology institutions will be addressing and interacting with more than 200 delegates.

5) Chinese handset-maker Oppo is expected to launch the Oppo F3 Plus smartphone in India on THursday. The F3 Plus is expected to be Oppo’s first smartphone to sport a dual selfie camera set-up. It is set to have a 16-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel sub-camera. The Oppo F3 Plus is expected to be launched alongside Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, and Vietnam.
