UP deputy CMs take charge, go strong against corruption

LUCKNOW: A day after portfolios were allotted to ministers by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Aditya Nath Yogi, his two deputies -- Keshav Prasad maurya and Dinesh Sharma -- today formally took charge of their departments and emphasised on corruption-free working.

The officials and employees were administered oath of cleanliness by the deputy CMs in the respective ministries.

Maurya, having charge of Public Work department (PWD), in his first meeting with officers emphasised that no contract should be given to criminals and asked them to prepare list of contractors who are members of any political party.

"There should no criminal contractor in the department and a list of contractors, who are members of any political parties should also be prepared," he said and asked officers why the quality of state roads was not good as compared to other states.

Maurya said that in previous regime focus was paid on particular area of region but now emphasis should be laid where works were not done.

Deputy Chief Minister Sharma, heading Secondary Education department, held a video conference with District Magistrates and directed them to ensure that there should be no copying in the ongoing board examinations.

"While prohibitory orders are enforced, how come there was news of copying during exams? The sanctity of examinations should be ensured," Sharma said while directing "strict action against copying mafia and those involved in it."

Taking note of reports of mass copying in Hardoi, Aligarh, Kanpur, Kaushambi, Mathura, Kasganj, Unnao, Agra, Faizabad, Gonda, Brabanki and other districts, he directed concerned DMs to act immediately to check the menace.

The deputy CM also warned officers against indulging in any illegal work or letting anyone misuse their name.

"You all should alert me if someone calls you in my name or any of my relatives' name," the Deputy CM asserted.
