The Jairampur Battalion of the Assam Rifles has arrested two ULFA (Independent) cadres from Koriapani village at Jagun near Assam-Arunachal border.
Based on inputs about the presence of ULFA cadres at the village who were terrorising people, the Assam Rifles arrested Bitu Rajbanshi and Bitul Shimpo, Defence PRO Colonel Chiranjeet Konwer said.
A pistol, live ammunition and cash were seized from their possession. The duo hail from Hasak village in Tinsukia district of Assam, Konwer said.
"On sustained interrogation, the duo admitted to their allegiance to ULFA(I). Rajbanshi further revealed that he had undergone training at Kaching training camp in Myanmar," the officer said.
