A police jawan was today killed by Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police said.
The incident took place at Kuprel village under Farsegarh police station limitswhen the jawan Assistant Constable Tarun Sodi (29) had gone therefor some personal work, a senior police official told PTI.
Kuprel is located 4 kms away from Farsegarh.
A group of ultras stormed into the village and pumped two bullets into Sodi before slitting his throat with a sharp edged weapon, he added.
The attackers escaped from the spot after committing the crime, he said.
After villagers informed, a police team was rushed to the spot and his body was brought for postmortem, the official said.
Meanwhile, a combing operation was launched in the region to nab the assailants, he added.
