Shooting incident outside British Parliament: BBC

LONDON: A shooting incident was reported today outside the British Parliament that resulted in some injuries, a media report said.

Shots were reported to have been fired close to the Houses of Parliament, the BBC reported.

Politicians and journalists tweeted about hearing loud crashes outside the buildings.

Witnesses said they saw people being treated for injuries and reported seeing a man with a knife in the palace grounds. Staff inside Parliament were told to stay inside their offices, the report said, adding someone had been shot.

Scotland Yard said it was called to a firearms incident on Westminster Bridge amid reports of several people injured.

Prime Minister Theresa May was seen being escorted into a silver sedan to safety by security forces according to eye witnesses on BBC.

A dozen people have been reported injured in the attack and in the succeeding melee. Two separate incidents were reported. In one of them, a man had attacked a police officer and plain clothes policemen had to shoot him down. In the other incident, a man had allegedly attacked passers by.
