Pharmaceutical packaging is becoming more innovative to be user-friendly.

“The PVC component in pharmaceutical packaging is being gradually decreased with many manufactures bringing it down from 60 microns to 30 microns,’’ Sanjiv Jaggi, Chairman of subcommittee of Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) and Managing Director (India), Constantia Flexibles told newspersons at a press conference here on Monday to announce a national conference.

Referring to other innovations, he said laser pouches for packing single dose powders were being made to ensure proper opening of the pouch without any loss of powder. Maddhab Chakraborti, Joint Director, IIP-Hyderabad, the institute will be organising a national conference on “Inno Vision in Packaging’’ in Hyderabdad during March 23-24. Indian packaging market size is estimated at $27 billion which is expected to touch $32 billion by 2020, he added.
