The Police has seized 18 human skeletons from a house at Purbasthali town in Burdwan district and arrested four persons, a police officer said today.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided a house at Nanda colony in Purbasthali and seized the 18 skeletons and arrested four persons for illegally running a business of supplying skeletons, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Kalna, Nitin Singhania said.
The business of illegally supplying human skeletons was run by Tapas Pal and his associate Manoj Biswas, both of whom are absconding, the SDPO said.
Pal used to get hold of human bodies floating on the Ganga and and then sell the skeletons illegally, the SDPO added.
