Trivendra Singh Rawat, a former RSS pracharak, has been elected as the BJP's legislative party leader in Uttarakhand and will take oath as Chief Minister on Saturday. While the party's newly elected lawmakers met to elect their leader, the final decision was that of party chief Amit Shah. Rawat will take oath in the state capital Dehradun.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappady K Palanisamy is to inaugurate 127 schemes and buildings in Coimbatore on Saturday through video conferencing from the CODISSIA grounds. Among the buildings to be inaugurated is the district collector's office. Besides, projects in Erode, the Nilgiris and Tirupur will also be inaugurated.

The Antyodaya Express from Mumbai to Tatanagar (Jamshedpur) in Jharkhand will be inaugurated by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu through video-conferencing from the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) on Saturday. The departure of the rake is scheduled at 1.20 pm from the station. The Antyodaya Express, announced in the Railway Budget 2016, is a long-distance, fully unreserved, superfast train service, which will cover the distance between the two cities in 25 hours.

The Bharatiya Janata Party plans to formally celebrate its massive electoral victory in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The party along with alliance partner Apna Dal won 325 of UP's 403 constituencies in the recently-concluded polls. According to a party spokesperson for UP, the party workers would be celebrating 'Vijay Diwas' at the booth level throughout the state on Saturday.

The new Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister will be sworn-in on Sunday evening. Newly elected BJP MLAs in the state are to meet in Lucknow on Saturday and are likely to elect their legislature party leader a week after the party won the assembly elections with a three-fourths majority. The BJP won 325 seats along with its allies in the 403-member House.
