West Bengal to challenge HC order for CBI probe in Narada sting case: Mamata Banerjee
NEW DELHI: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said the state government will challenge the Calcutta HC order directing preliminary inquiry by CBI on Narada sting operation in Supreme Court.
Defending her ministers, Mamata alleged that BJP is behind the sting operation, she said: "Everyone knows that the sting was published from BJP office. We are going to higher court against the High Court order on #Narada sting operation."
Calcutta High Court has directed the CBI to conduct a preliminary enquiry into the Narada sting operation case in which several Trinamool leaders had been seen taking bribes. The court has asked the investigating agency to submit a report to court in 72 hours.
Ordering an investigation, court slammed the state police for its inaction on the issue. The court said: "The respondents hold high position. State police are mere puppets. We order CBI inquiry without delay."
