Kolkata: A division bench of the Calcutta high court on Friday passed an order asking the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to launch a probe into the sting operation conducted by Narada News, which showed several Trinamool Congress leaders receiving cash.

The footage was released ahead of last year’s assembly elections in the state.

Narada News’ Mathew Samuels, who conducted the operation, had then said that the video was recorded in 2014 but not released immediately.

On Friday, the court in its verdict also questioned the state administration’s decision to start an investigation by the Kolkata police.
