The Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Thursday said it plans to open its first Indian office in this city this year.

The chamber made the statement here following a meeting of its senior officials, accompanied by UAE's Ambassador to India Ahmed Al Banna with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

"The Chief Minister supported the opening of our office in Mumbai," the statement said.

"Of all new companies that registered with the chamber last year, 29 per cent are Indian, bringing the total number of Indian members to over 36,000," it said.

The chamber's delegation, which includes dignitaries and senior businessmen from the UAE, is currently visiting and Ahmedabad, as part of its Global Business Forum series roadshow, it added.
