Ministry of Tourism to promote north east states

KOLKATA: The government is coming up with some special facilities to promote tourism in the north east.

There would be provisions for complimentary space for the north eastern states in Indian Pavilions set up at major International travel fairs and exhibitions.

While all the other states are given 50% central financial assistance for organizing fairs and festivals, 100% assistance would be provided to the north eastern states.

The Ministry of Tourism also promotes its tourism offerings round the year under the Incredible India banner; they would be taking up special promotions for the north east especially.

Most of these promotions would be done for the television medium. Other promotion vehicles include releasing print, electronic, online and outdoor media campaigns in both the international and domestic markets.

10% of the plan allocation of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India is earmarked for North Eastern Region.
