No one has the right to curb creative freedom: Motwane

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane has slammed the vandalism on the set of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film "Padmavati" in Kolhapur, saying no one has the right to take the in their hands.

Around 20 unidentified people had torched the costumes and the animal feed kept there for the horses featuring in the period drama.

This is the second such incident that has happened with Bhansali. In January this year, some members of Karni Sena, a Rajput community group, had attacked him and stalled the film's shooting at Jaigarh fort in for allegedly presenting "distorted facts" in "Padmavati".

Motwane says he is absolutely against such incidents as people are wrong to assume that they can curb the creative freedom of filmmakers.

"No one has the right to curb creative freedom... Let take care of it in its due course. You can't take the in your own hands, you cannot vandalise and slap someone. That is not vigilante, that is just stupid," Motwane told PTI.

Rajkummar Rao, who stars in Motwane's next "Trapped" which releases tomorrow, says violence cannot be an answer to anything.

"There are other ways to solve a problem than vandalise. One should talk it out. Violence is not the answer to anything," Rajkummar says.
