The "Suicide Squad" sequel is close to landing a new screenwriter in The Legend of Tarzan's Adam Cozad.
Cozad is in final negotiations to tackle the script for the follow-up to the blockbuster, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
David Ayer wrote and directed the 2016 movie, which featured Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and Jared Leto and grossed USD 745 million worldwide.
Ayer will not be returning for the sequel, prompting studio bosses to offer the gig to a host of top directors, including Mel Gibson
As well as "The Legend of Tarzan", which also featured Robbie, Cozad co-wrote 2014's "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.
