Kempambudhi lake to get facelift soon: Mayor

Mayor G Padmavathi visited Kempambudhi lake on Thursday, where the resident washermen community expressed its concerns.

They told her that blocked drains result in stagnation of water, leaving them at a risk of contracting diseases. They said that in spite of bringing the matter to the notice of the corporator, they got no relief.

The mayor assured them that necessary steps will be taken to improve the condition of the Dhobi Ghat. She said the lake would be developed in a month’s time and Rs 4.5 crore will be released. “Sewage water coming into the lake will be redirected, a walking track will be laid and fencing will be done,” she said.
