Contribution to NSDF to promote sports in India

KOLKATA: The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is regularly interacting with the corporate and public sectors for contribution to the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) for promotion of sports in the country said Vijay Goel said in the Lok Sabha today.

The Minister of State (I/C) for Youth Affairs and Sports also mentioned that they would look forward to investments made in sports promotions as a part of the corporate social responsibility of companies.

Elaborating on the promotions the government has already been doing, Goel also mentioned that the ministry runs another scheme called the Target Olympic that runs with the moto to identify and support medal prospects for the Olympics.

These selected athletes are provided financial assistance for their customized training at institutes that have world class facilities and other necessary support.

The TOP Scheme continues for support of potential athletes for 2020 and future Olympic Games and other major international competitions Goel said.
