Mrida Greens looks to sell herbal products on Amazon, Snapdeal

HYDERABAD: Herbal nutrients manufacturer Mrida Greens and Organics is in talks with e-commerce players like Amazon and Snapdeal and other modern retailers to meet the growing demand for herbal products in the country, said a senior company executive.

The company, which is into manufacturing and extraction of nutrients from herbs for cosmetic use and for use in food supplements, also plans to set up two solvent-based extractor plants and increase the capacities of the existing facilities. It currently has one facility in Umbergaon in Gujarat.

Manoj Khanna, co-founder and chief executive, Mrida Greens and Organics, said, "We are investing around Rs 1.25 crore each on the two upcoming plants apart from increasing the capacities of the existing facility. While primarily we have been operating on a business to business model by catering to ayurvedic and nutraceutical firms, we are venturing into business to consumer (B2C) segment by way of opening our own stores and direct selling on e-commerce platforms."

The company has also expanded its product portfolio to include five more herbal extracts to its existing and highly successful aloe vera extracts that include noni, vijaysar, shtavari, amla and shankhapushpi.

Apart from herbs, the company has also forayed into millet-based products. "We have launched millet flour and are in the process of developing other products as it gains prominence among the working class for its health benefits," said Khanna.
