Senior Congress leader B K Hariprasad resigned from the post of AICC General Secretary and as Congress Working Committee member owning moral responsibility for the party’s defeat in local body elections in Odisha.
He told reporters on Monday that the party has not been able to perform well in the elections to ZP’s in Odisha recently.
It is said the Congress would revamp the AICC and hence, Hariprasad has resigned. The revamp may take place soon following the debacle of the party in the elections in five states.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was planning to drop Manohar Parrikar from the Cabinet due to underperformance. Instead, was rehabilitating him by making him the Goa chief minister, he ridiculed.
He said the decision by Goa Governor to appoint Parrikar as Chief Minister is undemocratic. Though Congress had emerged the single-largest party in Goa in the elections, the Governor invited the BJP to form the government. The governor was under pressure from the Centre, he charged.
