Afghanistan completed a clean sweep against Ireland, winning their third and final Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket match by 28 runs on Sunday.

A blistering knock of 89 by Mohammad Nabi and a quickfire 72 by Mohammad Shahzad in the lower order helped Afghanistan post 233/8 in 20 overs.

For Ireland, Kevin O'Brien scalped four for 45 runs while Jacob Mulder took two wickets for 32.

Chasing the mammoth 234-run target, Ireland were bowled out for 205 in their 20 overs.


Afghanistan are unbeaten in last 11 T20Is and wicketkeeper-batsman Shahzad with his destructive 72 surpassed India skipper Virat Kohli to become the fourth highest run-getter in international T20 cricket. The Afghan batsman has 1779 runs from 58 T20Is at an average of 32.34 and with a strike rate of 136.84.

Fifth-placed Kohli has scored 1709 runs at an average of 53.50 with a strike rate of 134.77. The India skipper has also played 10 less T20Is than Shahzad.

Brendon McCullum tops the batting chart with 2140 runs, followed by Tillakaratne Dilshan (1889) and Martin Guptill (1806).
